This lab report is about Ohm’s law experiment conducted to find the relationship between the current, voltage, and resistance. This will help determine if Ohm’s law is obeyed that states while keeping all other physical conditions and the resistance constant, the voltage across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it, according to Pratama (2019, October). It will include two experiments that will be conducted where the first experiment involves measuring the current at constant resistance of 1kiloOhm while varying the voltage. This will involve Changing the direct current (DC) power supply voltage in steps of 1 V and measuring the current flow through a 1 (kilo Ohm) K resistor in each case. A graph of voltage versus current will be drawn to show the relationship between current and voltage. The following experiment involved measuring the current at a constant voltage of 1 volt while varying the resistance between 0.1kiloOhms and 1 kilo Ohm. This involved Changing the variable resistor (rheostat) in steps of 0.1 K and measuring the current flow through it in each case. After the experiment’s conclusion, through the filling of the Table and drawing of the graph, an analysis was conducted to compare the experimental data and the provided or normal data by calculating the gradient in each Table.

Measurement of current at constant resistance
1. Connect the circuit shown in Figure 1. Change the DC power supply voltage in steps of 1 V and measure the current flow through a 1 K resistor in each case. Record your results in Table

The gradient of the voltage versus current plot gives us the calculated resistance that was used in kiloOhms. In this experiment, an equation was obtained and differentiated to give the gradient to obtain the gradient.

1. Connect the circuit shown in Figure 2. Change the variable resistor (rheostat) in steps of 0.1 K and measure the current flow through it in each case. Record your results in Table 2.

To Obtain the value of voltage from the current versus resistance curve by approximating the area. The following steps obtained the area under the curve. The area under the curve =(1+6)/2*1=3.5V. The results obtained vary, indicating possible errors during the experiment’s conduction.
When carrying out the experiment of measuring current at constant resistance, it was noticed that the current increased linearly as the voltage was increased. This shows that the current in the circuit was directly proportional to the voltage supplied. This resulted in a straight line graph when the values were plotted on a graph of voltage versus current, giving a positive gradient which was the value of the resistance used. The obtained value from the calculation where the gradient was obtained was 0. 9804kiloOhms. This value is approximately equal to the value used or the normal resistance value of 1kiloOhm. The values varied due to the presence of errors during the conduction of the experiment, like changes in the resistance of the resistor and parallax error during the reading of the values.
When carrying out the second task of measuring the current at a constant voltage while varying the resistance, it was observed that the current declined exponentially. This led to the conclusion that the current and resistance relationship is inversely proportional. This can be proved by confirming the analysed formula of current where the voltage is a constant. From Ohm’s law, it was noted that the experiment was successful since it obeyed Ohm’s law that states while keeping all other physical conditions and the resistance constant, the voltage across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing through it. This can be concluded through the results obtained from the experiment according to Keenaghan (2017). Where the relationship between voltage and current in a conductor can be proved through the formula that shows they are directly proportional at constant resistance, the formula is V (volts, v) =IR where this is the Ohm’s law relationship. Also, it can be concluded that the results of measuring the current at a constant voltage while varying the resistance led to the conclusion that the current and resistance relationship is inversely proportional.
